[Cult of the Lamb] My Thoughts!

When Cult of the Lamb first came out, I saw it on YouTube and thought ‘What? There’s actually a game with this crazy concept? I’d definitely have to try it someday’ But then totally forgot about it. Recently, I saw it on a sale list and finally decided to give it a shot.

I’d think being a cult leader would let me do whatever I want, but when I actually play it, I end up taking care of my followers like they’re pets – feeding them, cleaning up their poop, managing everything for them. While playing, I kept thinking “What is this?! I’m supposed to be a cult leader!” It wasn’t super fun, but it wasn’t boring either. Since I didn’t really have any other games to play lately, I just kept going with it.

And the reason I kept playing was…

…that the characters are pretty cute ㅋㅋㅋ When you go mess with the scared followers, the Lamb gives them this sneaky look to frighten them and their loyalty goes up ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

As I kept playing, I’d sacrifice the followers I’d been raising and even rip out their hearts, but the art style is so cute that I didn’t feel disturbed by any of the scenes.

Did they deliberately make the art style this cute because the setting is so brutal?

There’s even a ritual where everyone strips naked, but it was kind of funny because the characters are so cute ㅋㅋ

As you upgrade, you can even build a Day Care. When the cult leader sets followers up together, they make eggs… ㄷㄷㄷ…

I think I saw this on the news or something?

I exploit the followers I’ve been raising(!) and sacrifice them(!!!) to make the cult leader stronger and stronger

Now,

Now, the one who saved the Lamb comes and says “Well done! Now sacrifice yourself to me!” or something like that.

I knew this would happen.

Not a chance

You’re gonna be my pet too!

And so everyone lived happily ever after under the cult leader^^

Wasn’t this on the news…?

The playtime is pretty short, but I bought it during a sale for about $12, so it was okay for me. The combat didn’t really have any fun upgrade mechanics and I didn’t enjoy the controls either. It just felt like being the breadwinner of a fake cult family where I had to gather resources to keep everyone fed. More than anything, I played it because the followers were cute and it was fun taking care of them. Since the playtime was short, I think it ended before the repetition got boring. Even though it wasn’t super fun, it was good enough as a time-killer.
