I bought the Humble Bundle because they were offering Callisto and Victoria, but when I checked out Callisto’s store page, it looked pretty gross so I wondered if I’d wasted my money. I tried Victoria briefly but it wasn’t that great either. Surprisingly though, I ended up really enjoying Humankind.
I only played it for about 7-8 hours, but I had a good time with it over those two days.
I had originally bought Civilization because it’s so famous, but it was way too complicated and my civilization kept collapsing, so I never actually finished a game. Humankind has a lower difficulty level than Civilization, so I could enjoy it more casually.
I won pretty easily in just 7 hours.
Fame and Food stats were pretty average, but
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ the military stats ㅋㅋㅋ are weird? Other countries were lurking around my borders, so I worked hard on building up my military to avoid getting invaded, but did I really have this many troops? I did deploy a lot of units here and there so I could respond immediately if neighboring countries stepped on my territory… Oh, is this why no one invaded my country? No wonder they only sent scouts but never actually attacked ㅋㅋㅋ
I remember seeing a humor post before saying that Koreans playing Civilization always deploy their armies on the borders, end up getting war declared on them, and ruin their diplomacy – and that’s exactly what I did. Come to think of it, even when I lowered the Civilization difficulty, I was always getting invaded and getting into diplomatic fights and failing, so this must have been why. So while reading that, I was thinking “Then what are you supposed to do with your army? You need to build military to avoid getting invaded, right?” As I kept reading, it said you’re supposed to keep your army in the capital… Oh… I see… I naturally thought military units were supposed to be on the borders. So whenever I got money, I’d immediately build armies and station them on the borders… I did the same thing in Humankind ㅋㅋㅋ Everyone just kept quiet because my country was so strong, but they must have had a lot of complaints ㅋㅋㅋ
